  • A long and productive collaboration at University of California, San Diego and adjunct assistant professor position at San Diego State University.
  • Was awarded an Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation Grant focusing on the “The Effects of the Holmium: YAG Laser upon Articular Cartilage.”
  • Has performed numerous animal and human studies, evaluating cartilage repair, including assessment of osteochondral autograft transplantation techniques in goat and rabbit models.
  • Participated in NIH/SBIR grants for “Cartilage – Cartilage Adhesion by Photo Polymerization” and “A Novel Engineered, Composite Construct for Articular Cartilage Repair” with Dr. Anthony Ratcliffe.
  • His current cartilage research is focused on cellular based repair with recent studies using ACI/MACI techniques, as well as a study evaluating the effects of decreasing joint load on subchondral bone edema with bracing.
